About Us

Born and raised in France, Guillaume Lemoine earned his bachelor’s degree in visual arts at the Polytechnic of Central London, U.K., before moving to the United States in 1991. After a successful career as a film editor, he decided to pursue his lifelong passion for landscape design and was subsequently accepted into UCLA’s highly regarded landscape architecture program.

Guillaume’s UCLA thesis, concerning the conversion of an abandoned Los Angeles rail line into a park, won the prestigious ‘James Smith Award’ for excellence in design process. The project was so successful that he was given a grant by the Santa Monica Mountain Conservancy, in conjunction with North East Trees, to expand his project into a design enabling the City of Los Angeles to link several urban parks to the Los Angeles River. Guillaume’s project was displayed in Los Angeles City Councilman Eric Garcetti’s field office, CD13 and is currently under consideration for adoption by the city.

After graduating from UCLA, Guillaume founded Picture This Land, a landscape design firm. Since its inception in 2000, the firm has successfully completed numerous residential and commercial projects.  In 2008, Guillaume was hired by the Santa Monica Mountain Conservancy to create a planting plan for a new public park in Ascot Hills, Los Angeles.  In 2009, in cooperation with the Los Angeles Garden Council, Guillaume designed and helped install a new community garden in a formerly vacant lot in Glendale. To this day, the Monterey Eco-Community Garden is the first and only community garden in California to utilize reclaimed water.  This highly successful project enabled 26 families to grow their own fruits and vegetables, and serves as a model for future community gardens currently planned for Glendale.

In 2005, Guillaume's wife, Glendale City Council Member Laura Friedman, underwent treatment for breast cancer.  After that experience, Guillaume and Laura founded a Garden Tour fundraiser for Glendale Adventist Medical Center.  The first Glendale Garden Tour in 2006 raised $35,000 to establish new fitness programs which are free to any cancer survivor.  Guillaume continues to curate this yearly garden tour, which has raised tens of thousands of dollars for Glendale Adventist's Cancer Center.
